RALEIGH — The North Carolina Retired Governmental Employees' Association is hosting a series of forums in the first week of October, with the candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and state treasurer discussing a broad range of topics of interest to the people of North Carolina, and with a particular interest in issues relevant to government professionals and retirees.

The forums are free and open to the public. We only ask that you register ahead of time, at https://ncrgea.com/candidates-forum.

Two of the forums will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1. At 11 a.m., Republican gubernatorial candidate and current Lt. Governor Dan Forest will start things off and answer questions from moderators and from citizens for 30 minutes. At 11:30, incumbent Gov. Roy Cooper will take the stage and have a 30-minute Q-and-A session of his own.

The forums for state treasurer will be held in the early afternoon. At 2 p.m., Democratic challenger Ron Chatterji will field questions for 30 minutes, followed by GOP incumbent Dale Folwell at 2:30.

The candidate forums for lieutenant governor will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Republican candidate Mark Robinson will take questions at 11 a.m., with Democratic candidate Yvonne Lewis Holley to follow at 11:30.

Once you register, you will receive an email confirming your registration. On the day of the forum, you will receive an email notification and link to the forum, along with a dial-in number to listen by phone. Each forum will go live 15 minutes prior to beginning.
