HAMLET – Old Fashioned Christmas on Main Street is celebrating its 11th consecutive year in Hamlet, with a few changes from previous years.

The event will begin on Main Street near the Hamlet Depot on Saturday, December 9, from 6 to 10 p.m. The featured entertainers at Old Fashioned Christmas will be the Mezzanine Beecomb Circus Troupe.

The troupe will be entertaining visitors throughout the night. Visitors can expect the opportunity to see jugglers, balloon makers, elves with giant bubbles and a snow queen on stilts.  The troupe will be preforming throughout the event on the street.

Featured under the awning in Main Street Park will be a holiday shopping bazaar featuring hot apple cider, Pretty Owl Jewelry, MaybeaTee designs, Stella Décor and More, and many more local businesses. Shoppers are encouraged to come out and find that perfect last-minute gift.

Food will be available at the event, sold by the American Legion including hot chili and cocoa. Twisted Treats will also be there with its ice cream truck and have gourmet popcorn and other items available.

During Old Fashioned Christmas, Second Baptist Church will have a bus arriving to pick up visitors who wish to see the live nativity scene at the church. Buses will start arriving at 6 p.m., and they will come to the visitor center parking lot every 15 minutes.

Children will get the opportunity to make reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer in Main Street Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Old Fashioned Christmas will feature a very special and important guest of honor from 7 to 9 p.m., as Santa Clause himself will make an appearance.

Hamlet Avenue will also have an Old Fashioned Christmas celebration on December 8, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature a horse and buggy ride, entertainer performances, balloon making and hot cocoa.
