House overrides budget veto in a surprise morning vote

RALEIGH — It’s a classic “he said, he said.”

While a majority of the Democratic caucus was absent, Speaker of the House Tim Moore, R-Cleveland, on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11 called for a vote to override the governor’s budget veto.

ROCKINGHAM — North Carolinians will need to show identification at the polls in future elections.

The N.C. House of Representatives voted 72-40 on Senate Bill 824 Wednesday to override Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto. The state Senate passed the bill 33-12 on Tuesday.
