Richmond County deputies earn certificates

ROCKINGHAM — Five Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were recognized last week for their professional development accomplishments.

ROCKINGHAM — On Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, Sheriff Mark Gulledge presented Lt. Clyde Smith with his Advanced Law Enforcement certificate and lapel pin. Lt. Smith earned this certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission. This certificate is awarded as the highest achievable award presented to North Carolina law enforcement officers. The award consists of three different categories combined: years of service; college education; and law enforcement training. Lt. Smith has been in law enforcement since 2002 and currently serves in the Civil Division.
