OPINION: Don't buy myth about voter turnout

Republicans in much of the country enjoyed significant success during the 2021 election cycle. They elected a GOP governor in Virginia, almost elected one in New Jersey, won several important judicial races in Pennsylvania, and even elected their first Republican candidate to local office in Seattle (city attorney) since the 1980s.

Tuesday’s election reveals the consequences of running away from mainstream American values. Democrats are not only hemorrhaging support because of bad economic policy but took it on the chin over support for critical race theory and attempting to paint opponents of their agenda as white supremacists.

Lawmakers approve final redistricting maps

RALEIGH — After much debate, public scrutiny, and controversy, the General Assembly passed redistricting maps for the N.C. House and Senate, and U.S. Congress.

RALEIGH — The North Carolina General Assembly is slated to give final approval to the state’s new congressional and legislative district maps on Thursday. The three proposal boundary maps moved quickly through committees and floor votes this week. During Thursday’s sessions, the House is slated to pass the map for U.S. congressional seats in North Carolina, and the map for N.C. Senate districts. The Senate will consider the N.C. House district map.

N.C. House passes its new district maps

RALEIGH — On Tuesday, Nov. 2, The N.C. House voted along party lines in favor of its new House election district map, while the N.C. Senate approved new congressional maps. The votes come despite many Democrats saying the redistricting committee should “go back to the drawing board.”
