ROCKINGHAM – With the addition of a new hotel, Richmond County’s economical development is on the upswing.

Located at 307 West Greene Street, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Rockingham will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Western Hospitality Group, Inc. of Irvine, California.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites will employ over 20 local individuals, helping boost the local economy.  The hotel’s management recently hosted a job fair that attracted over 120 people who completed applications and afterward met with staff face-to-face for a short interview.

“We have decided to forego the second job fair, since our first fair was such a success that we found a great pool of candidates to choose from,” explained Debbie Stack, general manager.

When asked about the upcoming opening of the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Rockingham, Stack had this to say:

“We are excited to be the first team to bring the Marriott Brand to Rockingham. Marriott is a name people immediately recognize and associate with quality and value.  As many are aware, Marriott acquired Starwood Hotels (Westin, Sheraton, Four Points, aLoft, St. Regis) last September, making Marriott the premier provider and facilitator of leisure and vacation experiences around the world.

“Rockingham and Richmond County as a whole are now a part of that family and we are excited to share the hotel with the traveling community.”

The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Rockingham sits at the location of the former Comfort Inn and Suites, however, it is a completely new hotel under new ownership and management.

“The Fairfield Inn & Suites Rockingham is a truly stunning example of the brand’s contemporary look and feel, and we are pleased to introduce Fairfield Inn & Suites hotels in the Rockingham area,” a recent company news release stated.
