Sharing a treasure: Richmond County beekeeper gifts hives to doctor

David Snead gifted several of his bee hives to Dr. Chris Johnson. While the first two colonies abandoned the hive, the latest bees produced a bountiful honey harvest.

 

Longtime Richmond County resident David Snead has been beekeeping since his youth. It is something that runs in his blood, as his father and grandfather were also beekeepers.

Dees Bees owner raises $500 for Seaboard Festival 5k scholarship

Seaboard Festival 5k Race Director Duke Smith receives a $500 check from Donald Dees of Dees Bees Apiary. The donation will go toward a scholarship.

HAMLET — Organizers of the Seaboard Festival 5k hope to be able to offer three scholarships next year with a recent donation.
