ALBEMARLE — Construction and renovation of campground facilities, trails, picnic facilities and the pool at Morrow Mountain State Park will cause extensive amenity closures beginning June 13.

Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournaments scheduled this month
RALEIGH — More than 3,500 students will compete in the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s 44th annual Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournaments (YHEST) this month. Events will include shotgun, archery, rifle, orienteering and a written hunting skills exam.
March schedule released for Pechmann Fishing Education Center
FAYETTEVILLE — The Pechmann Fishing Education Center in Fayetteville released its March schedule, which includes both in-person and virtual classes. The education center is managed by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. Each course is led by Wildlife Commission staff or trained volunteers. Most events are free, and a North Carolina fishing license is not required.

ROCKINGHAM — A handful of kids got a dose of the great outdoors while indoors at Leath Memorial Library Wednesday night.
The sounds of crickets chirping and a fire crackling filled the Little Room, which featured a reading tent, craft table and campsite with hay bales and tents for the library’s Camp-In for Family Literacy Night.
