Rockingham, Hamlet, RCC offering vaccine incentives

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County’s two largest municipalities and the community college are offering financial incentives to employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College will be honoring veterans this fall with an Our Heroes’ Tree display and ceremony at both the Hamlet campus and the Scotland County campus.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College has announced its honor lists for the 2021 Summer Semester. The President’s List identifies students who earn an “A” in all courses and have a 4.0 grade point average while carrying 12 or more semester credit hours excluding developmental courses. The Dean’s List identifies students who attain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 with no grade lower than a “B” while carrying 12 or more semester credit hours excluding developmental courses.

HAMLET — Dean Adams of Laurinburg has property in Pennsylvania that he has leased to a solar farm. In order to learn more about solar energy and how he may use it for his house, Adams enrolled in Richmond Community College's Solar Energy Systems Technology class this summer.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College has partnered with the Richmond County Health Department to host a vaccination clinic for COVID19 on Aug. 16-17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lee Building on the Hamlet Campus. The Health Department will be administering the vaccine.

HAMLET — Richmond County native and first generation college student Tammy Smith knew as a little girl that one day she would become a nurse. Today, she is employed with FirstHealth as nurse manager of a medical/surgical unit that is designated to care for patients with COVID.
