A mismatch between the title and subtitle to Matt Lewis's April 18 column at The Daily Beast — "Canceling Student Loan Debt Only Leaves a Broken System in Place," and "Democrats are delusional if they think student loan debt forgiveness is going to save them and Biden at the ballot box" — perfectly illustrates the fallacy of mistaking bad policy for bad politics.

RALEIGH — Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic student loan programs have been subject to many changes, including multiple servicers transferring their loan portfolios to other companies. Navient, one of the largest federal student loan servicers, announced last month that it will transfer its student loan portfolio to Maximus, another servicer affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, pending DOE approval.
