Utility Pole Snapped in Rockingham Wreck

A crew from MasTec works Monday afternoon to replace a utility pole snapped during a two-vehicle wreck earlier in the day.

ROCKINGHAM — Eastbound traffic on East Broad Avenue was slowed down a bit Monday afternoon as crews replaced a snapped utility pole.

According to the Rockingham Fire Department, the pole was damaged during a two-vehicle wreck between a car and a truck just east of Fashion Plus, across the street from Food Lion. The department was dispatched at 12:48 p.m.

The two eastbound lanes were partially blocked and drivers had to veer into the center turn lane as a crew from MasTec made the repair. Westbound traffic was temporarily halted around 4 p.m. as the replacement pole was swung around from the side of the truck.

No other details, including possible injuries or charges are available at this time. Collision reports from the Rockingham Police Department are not made public until the following day.
