Walker Collins

HAMLET — Walker Craig Collins, 74, of Cheraw Road, Hamlet, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at his residence.

He was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, Nov. 10, 1945, son of Raeford and Ruby Ellen Hammond Collins.

He was owner of Collins Car Care Hamlet, was retired from the City of Hamlet and a member of Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Childers and Pastor Eddie Hildreth officiating. 

The family will receive friends following the service.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerry Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Maul Collins; daughters, Cara Covington (Perry) of Rockingham and Deana Carter (Bryan) of Rockingham; brother, Bennie Ray Collins (Sara) of Bennettsville, South Carolina; sister, Judy Collins Ormsby of Hamlet; grandchildren, Amber Toothe (Chris), Jarrett Carter and Jonathan Carter; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Madison Toothe; and his beloved companion, “Sadie.”

Memorials may be given in his memory to Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, 573 Battley Dairy Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
