ROCKINGHAM - Just about every senior in high school looks forward to prom night. The senior citizens in our community are no exception. On Friday, March 16, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, our senior citizens can look forward to an 80's-themed Senior Prom at Cole Auditorium.

ROCKINGHAM – Nonprofit organizations depend on donations in order to operate. Fundraising plays a significant role in generating needed funds to sustain ongoing operations. An upcoming opportunity to assist one such organization will occur this week.

ROCKINGHAM - Richmond County opened its doors to Discovery Place Kids in Rockingham on February 23, 2013. The Museum opened with a weekend long community celebration. On its opening day, as noted in The Supporter newsletter, “more than 2,200 children and caregivers participated in activities and events, including meeting Can Can, the Museum’s mascot, for the first time.”

ROCKINGHAM – The world's top athletes are gathered in South Korea, preparing for the opening ceremonies of the 2018 XXIII Winter Olympics. PyeongChang, the nation’s capital, was selected as the host city for the event in July 2011.

ROCKINGHAM - The Samaritan Colony is a non-profit male residential substance abuse treatment facility in Rockingham. It’s philosophy is that all men can recover from substance abuse through treatment of one’s physical, mental and spiritual needs.

ELLERBE – It won’t be long before the thrill and excitement of lawnmower racing once again returns to Ellerbe Lions Club Raceway. Saturday, March 10, marks the beginning of this year’s racing season.

ROCKINGHAM – United Way is a nonprofit organization that crosses cultural, religious and economic boundaries to improve lives in local communities. The vision of United Way in Richmond County is to engage all citizens to work together to build a healthy, safe, caring and stronger community.

ROCKINGHAM – Hudson Brothers Deli has been a popular gathering place in downtown Rockingham for 37 years and continues to thrive as new growth emerges all around it.

ROCKINGHAM - On Jan. 22, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating that date as National Sanctity of Life Day. Churches continue to honor that day on the third Sunday in January each year.

ROCKINGHAM - It’s not too late to help deliver a message of hope and joy to those less fortunate children in our community at Christmas. Collections for the well-known Toys for Tots foundation will take place through the second week in December with many drop-off locations in Richmond County.
