EAST ROCKINGHAM – At 10:10 p.m. Friday night, a call went out to Richmond County first responders that a pedestrian had been struck in front of the Village Mart on Airport Road.

Accident Report: Multiple Car Wreck on US 74

ROCKINGHAM -- Over the weekend, Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched Saturday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 74 and Biltmore Drive in Rockingham near Kentucky Fried Chicken.

EAST ROCKINGHAM -- The East Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched Tuesday afternoon to a motor vehicle accident at Entwistle Street and Mill Road. First Health Richmond EMS was also dispatched, but no one was transported to the hospital. North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. ROCKINGHAM – At 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, emergency services were called and dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Caroline Street and South Hancock Street near Rockingham Auto Sales.






ROCKINGHAM -- Drivers and passing by community members may have noticed a plethora of emergency service vehicles in JCPenney's parking lot Saturday morning.

ROCKINGHAM -- Richmond Observer accident reporter/photographer Harold Dawkins rushed to the scene Friday of a vehicle that had run off a boat ramp into the Pee Dee River. The incident occurred at the Pee Dee River boat landing located at the bridge on Highway 74.

The vehicle did have an occupant inside, and the driver had sustained what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The occupant was removed from the vehicle by an individual who was at the boat landing, and First Health Richmond EMS transported the driver to the hospital. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation of the incident.

At 6:30am Sunday morning, tones were sounded for a structure fire in Cordova, paged out as a fully-involved structure fire at the intersection of Center and 2nd Streets.

On Thursday afternoon around 6:15, East Rockingham Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Hwy 1 South and Eason Drive. There were no injuries to the driver and the fire was quickly extinguished upon the arrival of the fire department. Officers from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office assisted with Traffic control until the scene was cleared. Units were back in service at 7:00 pm.
