Meme Madness is Upon Us at RCC

HAMLET - March Madness is no longer reserved just for college basketball, and since the beloved Tar Heels have been knocked out of the ACC tournament, the energy can be refocused on Richmond Community College’s Meme Madness.

In light of the team’s recent Super Bowl win, the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles are still in full celebration mode; that energy could be seen and felt all throughout last night’s episode of ABC’s sitcom, The Goldbergs, with featured guest Mike Quick, an NFL Hall of Famer who hails from Richmond County (Hamlet).

Black History Month Ends, Focus Should Continue

ROCKINGHAM - Yesterday, February 28th, was the last day of Black History Month (BHM).  The brainchild of prominent historian Carter G. ROCKINGHAM – Although the U.S. housing market took a turn for the worse and saw one its lowest dips in prices in 2008, much like the rest of the economy, it has resurged and with it, new agencies are looking to stake their claim.

ROCKINGHAM – It’s well known that a crystal is one of the most precious stones on earth. It gives power and protection to those that possess it, and it shines light into darkness. There is a crystal in every community, and Richmond County has its own “Crystal” sharing light and love.

HAMLET – While many young boys join Boy Scout troops every year all over the nation, very few end up bearing the title of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). However, 17-year-old Jonathan Carter will achieve the designation very soon, just in time for his 18th birthday.

WADESBORO, N.C. – What do Maya Angelou, Michael Jordan, and Pastor Billy Graham all have in common? They have all received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award. And last Saturday at the Lockhart Taylor Center in Wadesboro, a local woman joined the elite group.

MONROE, N.C. – New days are on the horizon for Union County’s Department of Social Services as it announces its new director set to start next month. And it begins with a Richmond County native.
