RICHMOND COUNTY- Dan McCready was a freshman in college when he watched with horror as the planes slammed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. 

ROCKINGHAM-  The Richmond County Board of Commissioners held its December meeting Tuesday night. The Reverend Walt Smith, of Rivers of Life Family Worship Center, opened the meeting with prayer.   

ELLERBE- Newly elected town council member Fred Cloninger joined the Ellerbe Council Monday night as incumbents Archie Robinson, Jean Fletcher and Mayor Lee Berry returned for another term.

HAMLET – The use of wood as a fuel for fire and energy has been around since the beginning of time.  Recently, however, a group of world renowned scientists voiced their concerns over the potential new direction and environmental hazards of this practice regarding the new Enviva plant in Hamlet. 

ROCKINGHAM – In its first gathering following last week’s local elections, the Rockingham City Council held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. 

RICHMOND COUNTY – In the United States, drug overdoses will kill more people this year than guns and automobile accidents combined.  Dr. Tommy Jarrell, Richmond County Health Director backed up this claim by recently noted that, “for people under the age of 50 Drug overdose is now the leading cause of death.”

ROCKINGHAM- Most people are associating Tuesday, November 7, with Election Day.  But it is also a big day for the Rockingham Rotary Club, as it will hold its annual Barbecue and Auction Day in Richmond County.

ROCKINGHAM – With the addition of a new hotel, Richmond County’s economical development is on the upswing.

ROCKINGHAM – The 12th annual City of Rockingham Trunk or Treat held on October 31 was well attended by goblins, clowns, ninja turtles, super heroes and even a few princesses. 

RICHMOND COUNTY – With only one week left until Election Day 2017, it’s been relatively quiet on the political front in Richmond County this election season.
