HAMLET – Richmond County may be a small rural community, but the talent that comes to visit sure isn’t. On Thursday night, former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler and renowned country music artist Phil Vassar brought their gifts to a packed Cole Auditorium on the campus of Richmond Community College.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Tis the season to spread love, cheer and kindness throughout the community, and there is not a more recognizable charity that encompasses these qualities than Toys for Tots.

ROCKINGHAM – Tis the season for giving, but that doesn’t just mean only giving presents, money, or food. There are other things people can give that could be one of the greatest gifts given this year.

ROCKINGHAM – Rockin’ Tan has been making waves in Richmond County since its opening on September 30, especially with its new and various types of tanning beds.

ROCKINGHAM – Vickie Daniel, the Richmond County Clerk of Superior Court, has what she describes as a “heart of giving.”

HAMLET – In following up with the RO’s initial story last week, the City of Hamlet has issued a formal complaint to the IRS in regards to political campaigning occurring at the Seaboard festival by volunteers and Seaboard Festival board members.

HAMLET – RamFest at Hamlet Middle School began during Jim Butler’s term as principal, and current principal, Karen Allen, has continued the great tradition in allowing students to become more culturally aware and versed in the arts.

HAMLET – Richmond Community College, which has been a longstanding staple in the community, gave back to the people and organizations who help give students the financial opportunity to attend classes.

ROCKINGHAM – For local ladies wanting to good company and fellowship, First United Methodist Church in Rockingham was the place to be Tuesday.

ROCKINGHAM – “America the free” is a moniker our country has received throughout its historical battles, but not without sacrifice and the “home of the brave.”
