Local Hospitals Earn "A" Grade for Safety

PINEHURST – FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital – Richmond have both earned an “A” grade on Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades.

ROCKINGHAM -- Smart Start and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are working together to bring books to North Carolina’s youngest children through funding provided by the North Carolina General Assembly.

HAMLET – Thousands of people were “all aboard” in downtown Hamlet over the weekend.

LUMBERTON – Representative Garland Pierce was honored with the 2017 Regional Community Health Award sponsored by Southeastern Health.

PINEHURST – FirstHealth Diabetes & Nutrition Education has the area’s only American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), and the recent AADE certification of two members of the FirstHealth staff brings the program’s number to four.

PINEHURST – Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women, contributing to more cancer deaths than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. According to American Cancer Society estimates, there will be about 222,500 new cases of lung cancer and about 155,870 lung cancer deaths this year.

PINEHURST – Several hundred patients are now actively involved or are being followed in studies conducted by the FirstHealth of the Carolinas Clinical Trials program.

ROCKINGHAM – Charles McPherson didn’t become really concerned about how bad he was feeling until acquaintances started telling him that he didn’t look well and that it might be a good idea to have his sugar checked.
