HAMLET — Richmond Community College student Ayesha Adams of Lilesville has received the 2021 Academic Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding academic achievements of students in the N.C. Community College System. 

HAMLET — Richmond Community College invites the community to come out for its Program Fair on Tuesday, April 20, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium on the Hamlet Campus. The College will be showcasing all of its programs and services with both indoor and outdoor displays.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College’s Board of Trustees met Tuesday and approved changes to multiple programs in order to better match the academic needs of students with the training requirements of employers.

HAMLET — Jason Blevins is a long way from his hometown of Loudon, Tennessee, but the 19-year-old is right at home in the Electric Lineman program at Richmond Community College.

RichmondCC hosts Afterschool STEM program

HAMLET — Middle school and high school students met virtually for two months with Richmond Community College instructors in an Afterschool STEM program. At the first of March, they brought what they had been learning virtually to campus for hands-on projects.

HAMLET — Richmond Senior High School student Evan Cooley has been taking welding classes at Richmond Community College since the start of his junior year. The 17-year-old is now in his senior year and working as an intern at Superior Cranes.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College is hosting a free event called "Funding Your Education without Risking It All" on March 24 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium. College leaders will go over the many options available at RichmondCC to pay for a college degree or career training.

HAMLET — As long as he can remember, 19-year-old Brandon Swallow has dreamed of building machines that would make life easier for people. In fact, at age 8, he used his K'NEX Classic Construction building set to build a robotic arm to pick up toys and a crossbow to defend his fort. By age 9, he was building motorized cars and windmills. 

HAMLET — Stacey Drake was getting help with her resume at the Career & Transfer Center on the Hamlet Campus of Richmond Community College when she learned about a pre-employment class that was preparing people to work for a local company. Having recently moved to the area from Virginia and working as a receptionist at a veterinarian's office, Drake decided to check out the class and see what doors it may open for her.

HAMLET — College can be expensive when you don’t make the right choices. This is what April Xiong of Maxton learned when she began working on her goal to become a nurse practitioner.
