After hearing the news of the passing of former state senator Marc Basnight, whom the Carolina Journal referred to as “perhaps the most powerful figure in N.C. politics during the first decade of the 21st century,” I was reminded of the time I met him in the late ‘90s.

Richmond County reports 50th COVID-related death

ROCKINGHAM — On the day that North Carolina experienced yet another record-breaking daily COVID case count, Richmond County announced its 50th virus-related death.

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County’s low daily case count didn’t last long.

The Health Department reported 63 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday — up from just six the day before — making it the third-highest reporting day the county has had since the first case was reported in April.

ROCKINGHAM — For the first time in more than a month, the Richmond County Health Department reported fewer than 10 cases of the coronavirus.

Burkes Outlet coming to Richmond Plaza

ROCKINGHAM — A new store is coming to Richmond Plaza to fill part of the vacant property left by the recent closing of J.C. Penney.

ROCKINGHAM — More than 30 Richmond County residents have tested positive for the coronavirus and one has passed away since Tuesday’s update.
