PEMBROKE — Engle Revels, director of Admissions at UNC Pembroke, has been selected to the first cohort of the UNC System Executive Leadership Institute.

PEMBROKE — UNC Pembroke Adjunct Professor Judith Paparozzi was in attendance last week for the virtual release of the 2020 global Trafficking in Persons Report, after receiving a special invitation from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

PEMBROKE — UNC Pembroke has been awarded a $3.1 million federal grant which will provide financial assistance over five years for 185 students seeking a master’s degree in social work.

PEMBROKE — Dr. Leslie Locklear, the FATE project coordinator at UNC Pembroke, has been appointed to serve on Gov. Roy Cooper’s DRIVE Task Force.

PEMBROKE — Counseling master’s student Elzetter Norris has been awarded a national fellowship to support her education at UNC Pembroke. The Pembroke native has aspirations as a professional counselor working with individuals suffering from mental health and addiction disorders.

PEMBROKE — Dr. Teagan Decker has been named dean of the Esther G. Maynor Honors College at UNC Pembroke.

Decker, an associate professor of English, has served as interim dean since July 2019. Prior to that, she was assistant dean of the Honors College, a position she held for four years. Decker was chosen following a national search. Her appointment was approved last week by the Board of Trustees.
