PEMBROKE — Steven Bourquin had a zest for life.

The popular math professor with a larger-than-life personality was revered by his students and fellow colleagues at UNC Pembroke. He possessed a natural gift to stimulate students’ interest in math. 

PEMBROKE — Beginning this fall, UNC Pembroke will begin accepting applications for the Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling program. The GCAC program, which has been in development since 2017, is designed to prepare students for addiction specific professional counseling careers. 

PEMBROKE — Dr. Scott Hicks, director of the Teaching and Learning Center and professor of English, Theatre and Foreign Languages at UNC Pembroke, has been named an Engaged Faculty Scholar by North Carolina Campus Compact. 

PEMBROKE —The outdoor drama "Strike at the Wind!" is returning to its roots — where it began more than 40 years ago. 

PEMBROKE — UNC Pembroke is being recognized on a national scale for its innovative use of Cisco technologies in higher education.

PEMBROKE — Bryana Carrington, a senior at UNC Pembroke, will be among the 42 contestants vying for the Miss North Carolina crown on Saturday. 

PEMBROKE — After a ride-along with a Wilmington police officer in 2000, Alejandra Sotelo was hooked.

“I knew this was exactly where I wanted to be,” said Sotelo, who was an officer at the time with UNC Wilmington.

PEMBROKE — The Givens Performing Arts Center on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke has announced its 2019-20 Professional Artist Series. The season is highlighted by Grammy and Tony Award-winning performances and more.

PEMBROKE— Dalton Hoffer was raised in Sneads Ferry, but calls UNC Pembroke home. 

Hoffer has given back to the campus and community that has embraced him since the day he stepped on campus as a student in 2009. After earning his degree he remained immersed in UNCP, accepting a job in the Office of Civic and Community Engagement. 

PEMBROKE — Former UNC Pembroke Provost Dr. Zoe Woodell Locklear has come out of retirement to lead the School of Education.
