Alberta Ludlum Freeman

ROCKINGHAM — Alberta Estelle Ludlum Freeman, 92, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Freeman was born Jan. 24, 1926 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Rueben Dewey and Ruth Lynn Ludlum. For over 45 years, she was a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU and established the church library. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, had worked in textiles and retired from the Scotland County Division for the Blind. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olan R. Freeman; and siblings, Albert Ludlum, Bill Ludlum, Betty Dawkins and Roy Ludlum.

She is survived by her children, Olan R. Freeman Jr. (Carolyn) of Lumberton, Jackie Parnell (Tommy) of Lumberton, Pat Taylor (John) of Rockingham, Lynette Freeman (Lorenzo) of Rockingham and Glenn Freeman (Mary) of Laurel Hill. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.

The family will see friends from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
