SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — Ann Wilson Carpenter, 84, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, at The Cottages of Tulsa, Oklahoma, after 25 years of health struggles.
Ann was born Jan. 12,1937 in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to Carrie Maddox and Marquis D. Wilson. On Feb. 2, 1963, she married the love of her life, Richard D. Carpenter of Hamlet, North Carolina.
Ann worked for years at Fox Drugstore in Rockingham, North Carolina. She also worked for years at various craft stores, including her own, Ann’s Crafts. Before retiring due to her failing health, she managed two multi-family apartment complexes.
Cross-stitch and reading were her two most-loved hobbies, and she continued them as long as her eyes allowed. She adored cats, often adopting strays, however her granddog, Bear, won over her heart the last months of her life.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Drymon, and her husband Chris, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; a granddaughter, Petty Officer 3rd Class Peggyann Kennedy, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews, including Linda Brown of Rockingham, North Carolina, who was especially kind and caring.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; her brothers, Marquis Wilson and Lindsey Wilson; and sisters, Beatrice Guinn, Betty Hunsucker, and Dorothy McQuage; and nieces and nephews, Carolyn Brannon, Jerry Guinn and Thom Guinn.
