ELLERBE — Betty Jean Bowers Wood, 77, of Ellerbe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 at her home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1944 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late William and Lena Mae Smith Bowers.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting. Betty was the perfect example of unconditional love! She loved the Lord with an undying passion. Her home and heart were always open to anyone in need. The happiest time was when all of her family was under one roof. The sound of grandchildren playing and the laughter of her children were her favorite! There is not a person she met that wasn’t touched by her heart! Now she is walking the streets of gold with the Lord she served all those years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Monroe officiating. Burial will at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Surviving, her husband 57 years, Emmett Wood; children, Teresa Wood (Ricky Carter), Ricky Wood (Anne) and Marcus Wood (Stephanie); grandchildren, Jessica Norman (Justin), Jake Goins (Jessica), Amanda Williams (Allen) and Daniel Wood (Jessica), Brian Raposa, Timothy Wood and Elijah Wood; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Bowers, Jerry Bowers and Ronnie Bowers; sisters, Irene Richardson and Joyce Tucker.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
