HAMLET — Mrs. Betty McDonald Overstreet, 77, of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at her residence.
She was born in Richmond County Aug. 3, 1943, daughter of Robert Lee McDonald and Agatha Layton Clark.
A graduate of Hamlet Hospital School of Nursing, she was a Nightingale. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a registered nurse.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 6-8 .p.m at Harrington Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive friends at her home.
The funeral will be Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Harrington Funeral Home, with Mr. David Williams, the Rev. Eugene McNair and the Rev. Jerry Mims officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James William “Bill” Overstreet; and a brother, Mitchell McDonald.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Stewart (Darren) of Rockingham, Ellen Jefferies (Corey) of Rockingham and Linda Batten (Don) of Gibson; sisters, Jean Davis (Don) of Archdale, Patricia Messer (Vergil) of Rockingham, Nancy Sowers (Larry) of Archdale and Toni McDonald of Rockingham; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and longtime friend, Linda Phillips of Hamlet.
