Cathy Stroman Simmons

MARSTON — Mrs. Cathy Stroman Simmons, 67, of Marston, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was born March 15, 1954 in Marston to Mrs. Nora Morrison Stroman and the late James Lee Stroman.

Cathy received her early education in the Richmond County School System. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Richmond County School System and retired from the Moore County School System in June 2016. Cathy also worked for JP Stevens in Moore County. Cathy has been a faithful and active member of Marston First Baptist Church until her health failed her. She loved being an usher and member of the church choir. We are comforted in knowing that she will continue that work on the Heavenly Choir.

Cathy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Gid Simmons; her only son, Timothy Javon Davis Capel; father, James Lee Stroman; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gaylon and Inez Simmons; and four brothers-in-law, Joe Henry Simmons, Donald Simmons, John Fairley and John Nelson.
