RAEFORD — Cecilia Ann Russell Herring, 60, of Raeford went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 19, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.
Cecilia was born in Richmond County on Feb. 22, 1961, daughter of the late William Noah Russell and Mabel Arlene Warner Russell.
After many years in the administrative field, she continued to work into her retirement years for Hoke County, loving her job, and the many friends and people she met and worked with along the way.
She was a member of Rockfish Church in Raeford, North Carolina.
Cecilia was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved long walks with her husband John, reading, traveling and being with family. Cecilia was a strong, kind, and beautiful soul.
She will truly be missed by her family and all who knew her but are comforted by the thought of her reunion with her beloved son, Keith.
Cecilia is preceded in death by her son Keith Alexander Frye.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John; her beloved and devoted children, Natalie Bass of Rockingham, Russell Frye of Rockingham, and Jennifer (Devone) Hardee of Georgia; her siblings whom she was very close to and loved dearly, Eddie Russell, Robbie (Beverly) Russell, Joe (Peggy) Russell and Beverly Shephard (Jimmy) of Rockingham; and a much-loved grandmother (Gigi) to Savannah Bass, Saylor Stewart, Zepplin and Finley Hardee, all whom she adored; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, 11:30-12:45 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Green Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery with Eddie Russell officiating.
