Charles has been a longtime resident of Rockingham.

He was born in Claiborne County on Sept. 24, 1935, to Dan Hill and Alpha Skaggs Hill of New Tazewell, Tennessee.

He grew up in New Tazewell and attended Claiborne County High School and Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, Papa, and friend to all he met. His quick wit, humor and smile always left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Charles always enjoyed seeing people smile and sharing a humorous story with those he came in contact with.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Roberdel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Dennis and the Rev. Ernie Walters officiating.
