Charles Kenny ‘Tom’ Knight

HAMLET — Charles Kenny “Tom” Knight, 82, of Hamlet, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at his residence.

He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Richmond County, son of Thornell Knight and Annie Mae Knight Knight.

He was a member of Nebo Wesleyan Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved to sing, loved Hank Williams Sr., loved his flowers and doing yard work. His family was special to him as well as his canine companion, Cody.

A visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at Nebo Wesleyan Church from 1-2 p.m.

The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Collins and Pastor Jamie English officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery; masks are encouraged due to the recent rise in COVID cases. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Prentice, James and Punner Knight; and sisters, Pearl Quick and Lucy Gulledge.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Crouch Knight of the home; daughters, Darlene “Screwney” Peele (Danny) and  Robin “Runt” Davis  (Ray) all of Rockingham; sons, Charles “Skibo” Knight ( Rachel) of Rockingham, Jasper “Butch” Knight of Hamlet and Bryan Crouch of Asheboro; special Nephew, Jerry “Bauldy” Robinson of Rockingham; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
