Cheston Darrell ‘Pete’ Hughes

ROCKINGHAM — Cheston Darrell (Pete) Hughes of Rockingham passed away on Friday, April 29 at his home.

Pete was born on Nov. 4, 1972 in Richmond county to parents of Ruth Lambert (mother) and the late Emmery Hughes (father).

Pete was a loving father and husband to his wife, Tammy Hughes; and to his two children, Sierra R. Hughes and Adam Hughes; and grandfather to Matthew Calloway Jr., Benjamin D. Hughes, and Elias Moorman.

He was a former welder at American Fabricators and Welding. Pete loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family and friends. He has always had a heart of gold towards anyone he met. 

Pete is preceded in death by his father, Emmery Hughes; brother, Randy Hughes; and sister, Rhonda Stewart (Eddie).

Surviving are his wife, Tammy Hughes; brothers, Gary Hughes (Barbara), Marty Hughes, Mark Hughes (Melissa); sisters, Lisa Holloway, Kay Durden (Edward), Scooter Hughes (Kenny); and 24 nieces and nephews. 

Memorial services with Preacher Paul Haber will be held at Roberdell United Methodist church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
