HAMLET — Daniel Kenneth “Kent” Hicks Sr., of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 at his residence.
He was born in Hamlet, July 20, 1940, son of Robert Lee Hicks Sr. and Mildred Williams Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Hamlet, a member of Masonic Lodge AFAM No. 532, Shriners, former sergeant with Hamlet Police Department, and was a police in Special Services for CSX Railroad. Kent was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved his Lord and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Garris Hicks; brothers and sisters, Thelma H. Spivey, Thomas Atlas Hicks, Robert Lee Hicks Jr., Beatrice H. Coleman, Martha H. Smith, Edgar Earl Hicks, Mildred H. Starcher, William Gene Hicks and Glen Austin Hicks.
Survivors include his sons, Daniel K. Hicks Jr. “Skeeter” of Columbus and Joseph Lee Hicks (Samantha) of Rockingham; brothers, Ellis “Buddy” Hicks Sr. of Hamlet and John Edward Hicks of Columbus.
Mr. Hicks will have a private family service.
