ROCKINGHAM — Donna Kay (Richardson) Cassidy, 59, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at Hospice Haven following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 9, 1961, in Richmond County.
She is survived by her parents, Legrand Richardson and Carol Pankey Richardson; her husband of almost 38 years, Randy Clee Cassidy Sr.; two daughters, Crystal Dawn Cassidy and Melissa K. Fields; one sister, Angie Martin (Allen); six grandchildren: Alisa and Addison Fields, Alea Rae Cassidy, Jonathan Rhyne Cassidy, Bret Cassidy and Zeven Cassidy; plus a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Johnny Ray Richardson and Jimmy Richardson.
Donna Kay’s working career was in textiles but her greatest joy was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. In compliance with COVID rules, facial masks, social distancing and crowd limitations will be necessary.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Ellerbe. The Revs. Danny Strickland, Tommy McKenzie and Sam Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
