ROCKINGHAM — Doris Kimberly Grooms Campbell, 60, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9 2022 at First Health Reid Heart Center in Pinehurst.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1961 in Richmond County, a daughter of Jesse Willard Grooms Sr. and Audrey Ester Moss Grooms.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former corrections officer with the N.C. Department of Public Safety.
She is survived by her children, Sam Campbell (Tasha) of Mill Springs, Nikki Campbell (Norman) of Rockingham, Shelly Campbell of Rockingham, Heather Campbell (Josh) of Rockingham; sister, Peggy Airington of Rockingham; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gary Campbell; her mother-in-law, Ethel R. Campbell; sister, Myrtha Witchard, and brothers, Jesse Willard Grooms Jr. and William Ross Grooms.
Memorial services will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 concerns.
