ROCKINGHAM – Elsie Gibson Bennett, 96 of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Elsie was born September 12, 1921 in Richmond County a daughter of the late Arch Gibson and Maude Sibley Gibson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Susan Yvonne Bennett.
She was a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church and was a retired inspector with Burlington Industries.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Bennett Ormsby, 2 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:45 – 11:45 am at the funeral home and other times at the home
