ANDERSON, S.C. — Ethel Shaw Bateman, 90, of Anderson, South Carolina, formerly of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Mrs. Bateman was born Sept. 9, 1929 in Cedar Falls, a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde and Rosa Haithcock Shaw.
She was a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leander “Lee” Bateman in 2008.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Robyn Bateman; grandchildren, Brian Bateman (Elizabeth) and Whitney Bateman Griffin (Michael) and two great grandchildren (Palmer Griffin and Anna Shaw Bateman).
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Jim Loftis officiating. Social distancing and face coverings are required.
