ROCKINGHAM — Eugene Thurston Bullard, 102, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Mr. Bullard was born Sept. 20, 1918 in Guilford County, a son of the late Will M. and Esther Elberta Mann Bullard.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the Army Reserves in 1978. He retired from Shepard’s Auto Parts and had been a member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his wives, Ellen Virginia Martin Bullard and Rachel Frye Bullard; a son, Gary Bullard; and grandchildren, Vicki Gaddy, Pete “Herbie” Bradley and Jeremy Bullard.
He is survived by his children, James “Mickey” Bullard (Nancy) and Larrian Whitehead (Jimmy); stepchildren, Deborah Blake and Max Blake (Brenda); grandchildren, Jennifer Linder, Lee Bullard, James Bullard Jr. (Julie), Jeffrey Bullard (Laura), Ricka Fields (Bruce), Tracy Bradley, Toni Sabaugh, and Joy Nelson; step-grandchildren, Randi Wood (Walt), Lance Miller (Heather), Mandy Hutton (Richard) and Ike Carlyle; 18 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Cobb Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 11–11:45 am at the church.
