Eva Parker Faulkner McCullough

HAMLET — Eva Parker Faulkner McCullough, 98, of Hamlet passed away March 21, 2022 at Accordius Health in Aberdeen.

She was born the seventh child to Mattie George and Emma Austin Faulkner of Peachland on March 15, 1924. 

Mrs. McCullough was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hiram Craig (Mack) McCullough; and brothers Robert Faulkner and Austin Faulkner, and sisters Elizabeth Harrington, Eula Belle Caudle and Georgia Kemp of Peachland and Margaret Allen of Denton.

She graduated from Peachland High School in 1942 and attended Pfeiffer College in 1943. She worked at Camp Sutton in Monroe during World War II and later married her high school sweetheart in September 1946.

She was active in her church, First Baptist of Hamlet. As her kids grew, she was den mother in Cub Scouts, active in PTA events, attended dozens of Little League and Babe Ruth baseball games. She even got so excited at a high school football game when a neighbor’s kid ran the ball back from kickoff for a touchdown and she stood up and yelled “Home Run!”

In 1964, she began work with Quality Oil in Hamlet, moving with the company to Rockingham when it became Swink Quality oil. She retired from the office manager position after 30 years in 1994. She then continued to work as self-employed into her mid-70s.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with Dr. Allison Farrah officiating. 

Surviving are her sons, Tony H. McCullough and wife Ila of Lynnwood, Washington, and Robert McCullough of Hamlet; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at First Baptist Church, 208 Charlotte St. Hamlet, NC 28345.
