George Alfred Holt Jr., 75, passed away Jan. 30, 2021 at his home.
George was born to George Alfred Holt Sr. and Sally Hogan Holt in Richmond County in 1945.
George married the love of his life, Kay Atkinson Holt. They were married for 56 years.
George was a devout family man. He loved his children and grandchildren endlessly, he always made sure they had what they needed as well as what they wanted.
He was a hardworking man, sometimes working two jobs for his family. His favorite job was Castlewood Park. George enjoyed talking to everyone he met, that’s why he enjoyed the park so much, always someone to talk to. Besides work, he enjoyed the beach, motorcycles and guns.
George was a member at Southside Free Will Baptist Church and he also attended Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church. He and Kay are very fond of both churches and enjoyed attending both. George had a giving heart and always had a good story to tell. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years, Kay; their children, Connie (William), Donna (Chris), Rhonda (Eric), Kathy (Jonathan) and Denaysia (Tayevion); grandkids, Holly Dawkins, Ashley Holt, Linda Salcedo, Stacey Strickland, Christopher Taylor, Kevin Strickland, April Martin, Scot Skipper and Erica Harris. He also has 14 great-grandkids and one great-great-grandkid; siblings, Gary Holt and Deborah Strickland; favorite aunt, Lois Robson; and a very special fur kid, Precious.
Mr. Holt will be available for viewing Friday Feb. 5, 2021 for 1-4:45 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
Service will be at Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church (573 Battley Dairy Road, Rockingham) Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.
Pallbearers will be Tayevion Harrington, Chris Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Scot Skipper, Kevin Strickland and James Prevatte.
