ROCKINGHAM — Charles Glenvor “Glen” Snyder, 73, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at The Greens in Pinehurst.

Glen was born July 29, 1946 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Joseph Lyle and Mary Viva Moler Snyder.

He retired as tax collector for Arlington County, Virginia. In Arlington, he had served as past master in the Columbia Lodge No. 285, AF&AM and later transferred his membership to Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532, AF&AM, and was a member of the Kena Shriners. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, having played in the Redskins band for over 20 years, a political junkie and also played in the Shriners Band in Virginia. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Rockingham.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Chavis Snyder of the home; brother, Joseph L. Snyder Jr. (Susan) of Annapolis, Maryland; and nieces, Heather Killinger (Daniel) and Sarah Snyder, all of of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3 at First Baptist Church in Rockingham with the Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Hamlet.

 The family will see friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church and at other times at the home of his sister-in-law, Carol Chappell.
