Harry Tutor

ROCKINGHAM — Harry Franklin Tutor, 83, passed away at his home in Rockingham Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.

He was born March 19, 1936 in that very same home. His mother died when he was 3 years old and he was raised by his grandparents, the late Benson and Ida Thomas. His wife, Barbara Joan Peele Tutor, passed away in 2005 after 50 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christy Joy Patterson. 

He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. During his working years, he was the manager of the A&P Grocery Store in Hamlet. During leisure times, he enjoyed taking trips and he also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Patterson (Don) of Hamlet and Vicki Gail Tutor (Allen Chavis) of Rockingham; and three grandchildren, Donnie Patterson (Jennifer), Lori Patterson and Eddie H. Mabe II.

There was no visitation and the funeral service was private for the family.
