Ida King Tunstall

ROCKINGHAM — Ida King Tunstall, 78, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 9, 1943 in Richmond County, the youngest of 12 children, to the late Franklin Dave and Della Young King. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Tunstall; daughter, Angie Dale Troxler; sisters, Virginia Smith, Ivory Currie, Anna Keeter, Verbedell Hudson and Clatis Thomas; and brothers, Curtis King, Charlie King, Robert King, Delma Ray King and J.D. King. 

Ms. Tunstall was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ellerbe, and had been employed at Klopman, TNS and Glen Raven mills as a spinner. She loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan! Her passion was fishing, and she looked forward to her yearly fall trip to Cherry Grove, South Carolina to fish in the intracoastal waterway for croakers, spots, and especially flounder. She also enjoyed spending time and fishing every chance she could at Twin Harbor Resort, Lake Tillery.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Ellerbe with the Rev. Tommy Butler and the Rev. Carl Moree officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lake United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, from 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at the family home, 103 Bluebird Court, Rockingham, NC, 28379. 

Surviving are her son, Jeff Troxler and wife Carolyn of Ellerbe; daughters, Jan Troxler of Hamlet and Marie Turner and husband Mike of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Crystal Troxler, Steven Williams and wife Ashley, Ashley Baldwin and husband Scotty, Madison Turner and Michaela Turner; great-grandchildren, Wesley Field, Chloe Field, Rylie Graye Williams, Cade Allen, Memphis Baldwin and Bristol Baldwin; and her brother, Stewart “Dude” King.
