HAMLET — James Franklin Spry Sr., 78, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
He was born March 9, 1943 in Scotland County, son of James Flow Spry and Ruby Poston Spry.
James worked for Bellsouth for over 30 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved his family and was full of life; always loving to pick on someone. His passion was enjoying a good game of golf!
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021 at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church, 128 Maple St., Rockingham from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral will be Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at Maple Street Free Will Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Darwin Cook officiating.
Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Cliff Spry.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Brayboy Spry of the home; sons, James Lynn Spry and Kevin Spry both of Maxton; brothers, Carl Spry of N. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Ronnie Spry of Charleston, South Carolina, and Tim Spry of Laurinburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
