HAMLET — James Marcus Wright, 75, passed away on Sept. 7, 2021.
He was born, Sept. 23, 1945 in Hamlet to the late James and Elizabeth Wright.
Marcus owned a roofing company specializing in copper with work that can be seen from North Carolina to Florida. Before owning his roofing company, Marcus served as a private first class in the Army graduating from the United States Army School, Europe with honors in the weapons assembly department.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Wright; his daughter, Wendy Snipes; and his brother, J.C. Wright.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Wright Leviner; four grandchildren, Angel Shankle and her husband Robbie, Boe Snipes, Brooke Leviner and Jessie Leviner; three great-grandchildren, Robbie Shankle Jr., Cayden Shankle and Corey James “C.J” Forbis; and his great-grand-dog Finch, he so lovingly called Pence.
A small intimate service will be held at the home of his daughter Anne Leviner, 203 Walnut St. in Hamlet, on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 3- 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Richmond County Humane Society.
