GLENNVILLE, Ga. — Janet Jones Smith, age 65, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 5, 1956 in Flemington, New Jersey, and had lived in Glennville most of her life.
She was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and was an accountant. She enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and traveling. Janet’s favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Louise Lumpkin Jones, and several siblings.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Smith of Wallace, South Carolina; children, Helen (Joseph) Hutchinson of Providence Forge, Vvirginia, and James Mitchell Smith of Savannah, Georgia; siblings, Ann Hartline of Lavonia, Georgia, Bobbie (Eddie) Douglas of Blackshear, Georgia, Warren Jones of Long Beach, Mississippi, and Mary Francis Braddy of Waycross, Georgia; grandchildren, Dakota Neil Cowart, Aiden Scott-Edward Hutchinson, Alaina Marie Smith, and Ayrick Neil Hutchinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wallace, South Carolina with Pastor Jerry Wayne Shaw officiating. Due to COVID-19, please wear a face covering and to continue social distancing.
