John Wayne Taylor

ROCKINGHAM — John Wayne Taylor, 75, of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.

He was born in Robeson County, a son of the late John Henry and Goldie Simmons Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was retired first sergeant in the U.S. Army and, after time serving his country, he was employed by Burlington Industries. He was a Christian and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, yard working, and spending time with his grandkids.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 10, 2021 at noon at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with the Rev. Dan Main officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Co. Memorial Park with full military honors.

Surviving, his wife of 52 years, Patricia Freeman Taylor of Rockingham; sons, Chris Taylor (Lesley) and Shane Taylor (Tonda) all of Rockingham; a daughter, Chapelle Taylor of Rockingham; grandchildren, Jonathan Taylor (Morgan) of Rockingham, Douglas Campen (Brittany Scales) of Fletcher, Alyson Taylor (Bailey Virtue)of Carthage, Lanie Williams (Dylan Bolden) of Cordova, Kristen Fowler of Laurel Hill and Cody Williams of Rockingham; great-grandchildren, Teagan Taylor and Autry Taylor.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
