ROCKINGHAM — Johnnie Eugene “Gene” Batton, 74, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at Hospice Haven.
He was born in Richmond County April 26, 1945, son of Johnnie Batton and Essie Snuggs Batton.
Mr. Batton was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a quiet person who enjoyed being home; his hobbies were fishing and spending time outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry M. Batton Sr.
He is survived by one nephew, Larry “Mitchell” Batton Jr. of Rockingham.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham. Social distancing and face masks are requested.
