ROCKINGHAM — Joyce Gail Sweatt, 69, of Rockingham, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond in Rockingham.
Gail was born on Dec. 6, 1952 in Rockingham, the daughter of the late Claude Walker and Ida Craig Sweatt.
Gail was one of 11 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Rockingham High School in 1971 and worked until retirement as a certified nurse assistant. As a lifelong dedicated member of Pee Dee Methodist Church, her priorities were her one-on-one relationship with God and her relationship with her family and friends. She loved helping others and had a kind and loving attitude towards everyone.
Gail never married and had no children. She often said, “My nieces and nephews are my children,” and treated them as such. She had a kind heart and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her siblings, Carolyn Harris, Janice Clark and Melvin Sweatt of Rockingham, Ricky Sweatt of Marston, Charles Ray Sweatt of Seven Lakes and Helen Petrausksas of Euphaula, Oklahoma. Gail also had nine nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13 at Pee Dee Methodist Church in Rockingham. Pastor Brian Perry is officiating.
