ROCKINGHAM — Donnie Elgie Kale Davis, 50, departed this life surrounded by his loving family Aug. 18, 2020.

He was born May 22, 1970, the son of Ralph Darrell Davis and Virginia Deberry Davis of Rockingham.

He was known as a “Jack of all trades” who had many skills; his presence could light up a room and bring smiles to those around him. He loved life, loved the outdoors, and many types of sports including baseball/softball, golf, hunting, fishing and cornhole. Kale never met a stranger and he was full of love. He will forever be remembered as a “ladies’ man.”

His memory will be cherished by his parents and two daughters, Taylor Davis (Hunter Smith) of Ellerbe and Kaylee Conley of Chesterfield, South Carolina; one son, Kaden Davis of Rockingham; three grandchildren, Christian Conley, Casen Conley and Axel Smith; one sister, Charity Davis (Greg Kelly) of Rockingham; one brother, Benji Davis of Rockingham; a niece, Trinity, and two nephews, Chase and Dash; one lifelong friend, Tracie Dawkins and her son, Landon Harris.

The family will hold an outdoors memorial service Saturday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. It will be held at Shining Light Freewill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Tug Gainey and Pastor Ernie Walters.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing will be honored and face masks are required for those in attendance (for their safety). Those in attendance may remain in their cars and listen to the service on the radio and others will be welcome to stand or sit with the family. The family will receive friends after the service.
