ROCKINGHAM — Kathy Joan Dean, 49, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021.
Kathy was born April 18, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late William Curtis Dean and Mary Augusta Reynolds.
At a young age, she came to Rockingham to live with extended family and was raised by her aunt, the late Kathleen Ida Dean Griggs. She graduated from Peace Valley High School in 1991 and became a Certified Nursing Assistant where she worked at multiple hospitals and long-term care facilities in the Rockingham area. However, the job she loved most was being the mother of her three children: Zachary Stanford, Kaitlyn Outen and Jenna Outen.
In addition to her three children, Kathy is survived by three half-brothers, Richard Dean, Charles Dean and Jimmy Dean; an aunt, Martha Blount of Lexington, an aunt, Joan Huggins-Pfaff of High Point; close and special friends Cindy Dove of Marston and Timothy Mead of Rockingham; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham. The family will greet friends following the service.
