Kelli Marie Burgess

GRAYSON, Ga. — Kelli Marie Burgess, 32, of Grayson, Georgia, formerly of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

She was born May 3, 1989 in Moore County, a daughter of Ray Burgess and Joan McDuffie Monroe.

Kelli went through the Richmond County School System and graduated from Richmond Senior High School, class of 2007. She obtained a CNA certification, pharmacy technician certification and a phlebotomist certification. Kelli was endeared by many for her infectious smile, bubbly personality, and kindness to others. She had a strong work ethic, inspired and instilled in her by her grandmother, Virginia R. McDuffie. Kelli always had a job and a willingness to work. Kelli loved all holidays and was known to make crafts and take goodies to those in nursing homes. 

She is survived by: daughters, Jaelyn Monroe and Addison Monroe of Hamlet, and Harper Tidd of Grayson, Georgia; her parents, Joan McDuffie Monroe and husband the  Rev. Bill Monroe of Hamlet, and Ray Burgess and Paige Soles of Blenheim, South Carolina; brother, Seth Burgess and wife Candace of Wilmington; twin sister, Kaytlin Burgess Short and husband Hunter of McColl, South Carolina; and stepsister, Brooke King and husband Kyle of Blenheim, South Carolina; maternal grandmother, Virginia R. McDuffie; nephews, Acen Burgess and Bryce King; and niece, Hope Burgess; maternal uncle, Henry McDuffie and maternal aunt, Kathy M. Sanborn; paternal uncles, Mike Burgess and wife Susie, and David Burgess and wife Essie. Also, left to cherish her memory are a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends. 

In addition, she is survived by her Georgia family; significant other, Ryan Tidd; sister and brother, Ali and Brett Nolan; her Georgia mom, Marjorie Cowart; and adopted niece Ryleigh and nephews Connor and Braedon. 

She is preceded in death by, her great-grandmother, Ethel J. Roscoe (Mimi), and this is where she developed her love of rabbit food (salad); and maternal uncle, Mike McDuffie.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Mark’s Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ken Goins officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
